The Department of Education (DepEd) has set June 8, 2026 as the opening of classes for School Year 2026–2027, with the school year ending on April 8, 2027.
The updated calendar introduces a three-term structure in basic education, with a total of 201 class days. Each term will include opening activities, regular instruction, and end-of-term assessments.
Under the schedule, initial school activities will take place from June 8 to 11, followed by the start of regular classes on June 15. The first term will run until September, while the second term will continue until early December before the holiday break. Classes will resume in January for the third term, which will conclude in April 2027.
DepEd said the revised calendar is intended to spread learning periods more evenly and provide time for assessments and learning recovery. The structure also supports ongoing programs such as the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) program.
The new calendar will be implemented in public schools nationwide starting School Year 2026–2027. Private schools may adopt the same structure, provided they meet the required number of school days set by the department.
