The Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) kicked off the observance of Oral Health Month on Monday, February 2, with a fun run and fitness activities organized by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) at the Apayao Tourism and Sports Complex oval.
The opening activity drew around 250 participants from various government agencies, including personnel from the PGA, Department of Health – Cordillera (DOH-CAR), Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO), Department of Agrarian Reform – Apayao (DAR-Apayao), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), Philippine National Police (PNP), district hospitals, and other partner offices.

After the fun run, participants joined a zumba session, followed by a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstration, highlighting the link between overall wellness, physical activity, and health preparedness.
PHO officials said the opening activities is the start of a month-long campaign, with a series of information drives, community-based activities, and health services lined up throughout February to promote oral health awareness across the province.

This year’s Oral Health Month is observed under the theme “Tara Na! Cleaning at Fluoride, San ka pa?”, which emphasizes regular dental care and the use of fluoride as basic measures in preventing oral diseases.
The PHO encouraged all yApayaos to take part in the scheduled activities and to practice proper oral hygiene as part of everyday health care.
