The Provincial Government of Apayao, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Division (PDRRMD), provided immediate assistance to two families whose houses were destroyed by fire in Barangays Anninipan and Malayugan on April 29.
The response was led by PDRRM Officer Joeffrey M. Borromeo, in coordination with Flora Mayor Jeofrey T. Blas and Municipal DRRM Officer Danilito M. Montañez.
Each family received family kits, shelter repair materials, two cavans of rice, hygiene kits, nails, and galvanized iron sheets to support their immediate needs and initial rebuilding.
Non-food items were sourced from the Office of Civil Defense through its prepositioned stockpile for disaster-affected families.
The Municipal Government of Flora has also coordinated with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for the provision of lumber, while financial assistance is expected from the municipal government and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Assistance to the affected families will continue as recovery efforts move forward.
