Flora recorded the highest number of blood collections in Apayao, while Santa Marcela conducted the most bloodletting activities, based on accomplishments presented during the Blood Program Coordinators’ Meeting on July 10 at the Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center (FNLGHTC).

Provincial Blood Program Coordinator Manny Nicolas reported that voluntary blood donations in the province have continued to increase, with local government units and partner organizations sustaining blood donation activities across Apayao.
From 2025 to June 2026, Santa Marcela conducted 15 bloodletting activities in 2025 and seven more during the first half of 2026. Flora followed with 10 activities in 2025 and six this year. Pudtol and Calanasan each conducted three bloodletting activities in 2026, while Luna recorded one. Kabugao has yet to conduct a bloodletting activity during the same period.
For blood collection, Flora registered 597 units, followed by Luna with 479 units and Pudtol with 472 units. Santa Marcela collected 429 units, Calanasan recorded 222 units, Conner had 183 units, while Kabugao posted 93 units.

On blood utilization, Luna recorded the highest number of blood loans with 336 units, followed by Pudtol with 236 units, Sta. Marcela with 229 units, Flora with 226 units, Conner with 129 units, Calanasan with 55 units, and Kabugao with 11 units.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Rural Health Units, the Philippine Army, national government agencies, the Apayao Eagles Club, Apayao Kalasag Group, CIASI Group/Samahang Ilocano, and the Iglesia ni Cristo. Preparations for the observance of National Blood Donors’ Month on July 28 at the Capitol Main Building Lobby were also discussed.
