The Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) has been named a Regional Finalist in the 2026 Gawad Ligtas na Pamayanan: National Crime Prevention Excellence Awards for its Anti-Abuse Council Converging Towards Humanitarian Action and Oneness (AHON) program.
The recognition was conferred during the 1st Regional Crime Prevention Stakeholders’ Consultation-CAR on September 30 at the Nene Pimentel Hall, DILG-CAR in Baguio City.

NAPOLCOM Assistant Regional Director Nathaniel Cayaba presented the award to the Apayao delegation composed of PDAO Gretchen Garcia, AHON consultant Atty. Giaya Alyssa Galut, Hanna Gumidam and Vivian Pattag of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), and PLTCOL James Bauding of the Apayao Police Provincial Office (APPO).
AHON was cited under the Outstanding Local Government Unit in Crime Prevention category for its work in addressing abuse cases and strengthening coordination among law enforcement, social welfare, local government and other service providers.
The program links concerned offices in handling reports of abuse, referral, protection and other interventions for vulnerable individuals and families.
The award is part of the Gawad Ligtas na Pamayanan, NAPOLCOM’s national recognition program for local government crime prevention initiatives.
Apayao’s selection as a regional finalist also qualified the province for consideration at the national level of the 2026 awards.
