Residents and visitors now have access to a new electric transport option as the province introduced the e-Tranvia during its 31st Foundation Day celebration.
The eco-smart vehicle is designed to support local tourism while offering a cleaner mode of mobility in key routes. Built on a lightweight tubular steel chassis and styled with cultural design elements, the e-Tranvia underwent performance and terrain testing to ensure it can handle local road conditions.

As part of the anniversary activities, free rides are available from Luna to Pudtol and vice versa, giving the public an opportunity to try the electric transport firsthand.
The initiative is part of the SMART advocacy — Science Made Accessible, Relevant, and Timely — and aligns with the province’s efforts to promote sustainable transport and responsible tourism.

The project is implemented by the Department of Science and Technology–Cordillera Administrative Region Provincial Science and Technology Office–Apayao (DOST PSTO) in partnership with Cagayan State University (CSU), Apayao State College (ASC), and the Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) under the MOVE Apayao initiative, which promotes viable and cleaner transport systems.
With the rollout of the e-Tranvia, Apayao adds an electric option to its public mobility network while advancing its sustainability goals.
