A special coordination meeting on the Enterprising Agricultural Commodities in the Barangay (EACB) program was held on January 28, 2026, at the Capitol Conference Hall, led by Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr.
The meeting was attended by municipal agriculturists and officials from the Provincial Office for Agricultural Services (POAS), focusing on concrete measures to strengthen agricultural production and improve the competitiveness of farmers across the province.

Governor Bulut emphasized the need to promote compact farming systems and adopt appropriate agricultural technologies, particularly in vegetable production, to increase yields and support farmers’ livelihoods. He noted that technology-based approaches are necessary to improve efficiency and productivity at the farm level.
The governor also shared agricultural practices observed during the province’s official visit to Taiwan, citing methods on farm management, modern production systems, and practical applications of technology that may be adapted to local conditions in Apayao.
Among the proposals discussed was the establishment of initial net houses to support year-round crop production. Participants also discussed the need to refine farming strategies to further develop the province’s priority agricultural commodities while strengthening existing products.

Officials agreed on the importance of long-term agricultural planning, with plans to craft strategies that will guide the sector over the next five to ten years. The proposed establishment of demonstration farms was also raised, where existing farms of local growers may serve as learning sites. The initiative aims to encourage youth participation in agriculture by showing that farming can be a viable and sustainable livelihood.
The meeting concluded with agreement on the need to move forward with these initiatives to support sustained agricultural development in the province.
