The Provincial Tourism Services Office (PTSO) held a committee meeting on January 15, 2026, at the LMP Hall in San Gregorio, Luna, to finalize the guidelines, mechanics, and schedule of activities for Dayag and Taer 2026.
Discussions covered candidate qualifications, competition mechanics, and the overall direction of the pageant, with emphasis on fair selection and accurate representation of Apayao’s culture and identity. Organizers noted that the pageant will also serve as a platform to highlight Apayao as part of the Biosphere Reserve of the yApayaos (BRyA).
Pre-pageant activities will include a talent competition, with the top three performers to be featured in an audio-visual presentation during Coronation Night. A photoshoot featuring Isnag attire is scheduled on February 12, while the creative attire segment will carry the theme “Gods and Goddesses of Nature.”
Major competition segments will include the production number, swimwear, native attire, and evening gown or formal wear. Candidates will also take part in an outreach activity in selected communities, focusing on environmental awareness and BRyA-related initiatives.
The official schedule includes the Meet and Greet and Sashing on February 8; Personality Development Sessions from February 9 to 11; the Photoshoot on February 12; Outreach Activity on February 14; Pre-Pageant Night on February 18; and Coronation Night on February 27.
Candidates will represent various “Gods and Goddesses of Nature” inspired by local beliefs and values: Hinnalingan (Love) for Calanasan, Sirinan (River) for Kabugao, Ilay (Abundance) for Santa Marcela, Balanaban (Hunting) for Luna, Bunglun (Rain) for Flora, Abyosan (Strength) for Conner, and Dugimay (Air) for Pudtol.
The PTSO encouraged participating municipalities to prepare their candidates and ensure that all activities reflect teamwork, discipline, and cultural identity. Dayag and Taer 2026 will be held under the theme “BRyA: yApayaos’ Harmony with Nature, Apayao Hub of Treasures.”
