Around 200 personnel from the Philippine Army, ENRD, PENRO, MENRO, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) completed the Provincial Green Guards Deputation and Capability Training on April 7–8, 2026 at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex.
The two-day training focused on preparing Green Guards for field deployment, covering environmental laws, enforcement procedures, and coordination among agencies involved in resource protection. Sessions also dealt with practical approaches in responding to on-the-ground environmental issues affecting the province.

In a message of Congresswoman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang delivered by Claudette Padre, the Green Guards were described as part of the frontline in addressing environmental degradation and climate-related concerns. She also pointed to the need for closer coordination among government agencies, LGUs, and communities.
Participants were urged to apply both technical knowledge and field judgment as they take on their roles.

The Provincial Government of Apayao continues its environmental work through training and coordination with partner agencies.
