The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Apayao opened the 37th National Statistics Month on October 1 with a motorcade followed by an opening program at the PSA CRS Outlet Ground.
Representatives from partner agencies and other stakeholders joined the activity, which formally started the province’s observance of National Statistics Month from October 1 to 28.
This year’s theme, “Tuklas Pilipinas: Statistics as a Beacon Towards Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Tourism,” puts the focus on the use of data in planning, policy-making and the delivery of government programs.

PSA Apayao Chief Statistical Specialist Geoffrey B. Calimuhayan said statistics should be understood beyond figures, as the data reflects the actual conditions of people and communities.
Senior Statistical Specialist Chowen Jay P. Arellano also discussed the use of Community-Based Monitoring System data in understanding local conditions and supporting tourism planning.

Arellano cited CBMS information on population and households, education, employment and livelihood, health, housing, water and sanitation, and access to basic services as among the data sets that can help government identify community needs and plan appropriate interventions.
The opening program also included updates on the Provincial Product Accounts, a National ID Caravan, and the presentation of activities lined up for this year’s National Statistics Month observance.
