Eighty-five Apayao Barangay Social Welfare Workers (ABSWWs) from the municipalities of Lower Apayao took part in the Semestral Learning Conversation and Contract Signing on August 4 at the Aliwa Gymnasium.
Organized by the Provincial Government of Apayao through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), the activity provided updates on ongoing social welfare programs, reviewed field accomplishments, and prepared community workers for the next phase of program implementation.
Supervising Administrative Officer Marie Claire Palattao thanked the barangay social welfare workers for their continued service in communities, recognizing their work in household visits, beneficiary profiling, data gathering, and the delivery of government programs.
Participants also presented accomplishments from their respective municipalities, covering activities such as beneficiary profiling and data updating, monitoring of the Sustainable Livelihood Program, Child Development Center assessments, distribution of senior citizens’ incentives, LTODA assistance, Oplan Taob at Yugyog, milk distribution, feeding programs, Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), food pack distribution, and TUPAD monitoring.
The learning session was facilitated by Gretchen P. Garcia, PDAO III and ABSWW Focal Person, who discussed current program updates and the continuing role of barangay social welfare workers in delivering frontline social services.
A mental health and stress debriefing was also conducted to promote self-care and help participants manage the demands of community work. The activity likewise included the awarding of Philippine Red Cross insurance, funded by the Provincial Government of Apayao, and the ceremonial signing of contracts.
The semestral learning conversation gave barangay social welfare workers the opportunity to share field experiences, discuss challenges, and receive updates that will guide the implementation of social welfare programs in their respective communities.
