Pregnant women and young children in Pudtol gained access to dental care, nutrition support, and health services as the Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) launched the Dental Home within the First 1,000 Days under the “Magulang Ko, Unang Dentista Ko” Program alongside Project PAKKAL (Programang Alay sa Kalusugan at Kalakasan para sa Lahat) at the New Evacuation Center in Poblacion.
The program focuses on protecting the health of mothers and children during the first 1,000 days of life, a critical period for growth and development. Families received dental treatment, oral health education, and guidance on proper nutrition and preventive care.

Dr. Yema Grace Papa explained that the Dental Home program aims to build a continuing relationship between families and dental professionals so children can receive early care and prevent dental problems before they become serious. She encouraged parents to guide children in proper toothbrushing and advised pregnant women to undergo regular dental checkups.
Municipal Administrator Silver Ian Dimaano welcomed the program, noting that services delivered directly to communities help families access care more easily. He added that children often develop habits by observing their parents, including practices related to oral health.

Several service stations were set up during the activity. The Philippine Dental Association, led by Dr. Peter John Santiago of the Tuguegarao Branch, provided dental treatment, oral cleaning, Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART), and Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) application. ZONTA and Saint Paul University Philippines also supported the activity together with the Dental Rehabilitation Area and the Puro Kalusugan program of PDOHO.
Free dental kits, hygiene kits, toys for children, nutrition counseling, and demonstrations on proper toothbrushing were also provided.
Other agencies extended additional support. The Department of Agriculture distributed vegetable seedlings, while the Philippine National Police offered free haircuts and conducted information sessions with partner agencies.
The PDOHO and PHO also distributed vitamins, minerals, iodized salt, high-energy biscuits, slippers, pails, water jugs, contraceptives, and other support materials while orienting parents on Pinggang Pinoy, the 10 Kumainments, breastfeeding, and proper nutrition during the first 1,000 days.
The activity is part of Project PAKKAL, which brings together services from different government agencies to deliver health, nutrition, and social support directly to communities in Apayao.
